Dallas: A Prosperous City with Creative Charm

Dallas is a major city in Texas. Located in North Texas, Dallas is the main core of the largest metropolitan area in the South. Dallas is the cultural hub of Texas. It has much to offer in terms of cuisine, the arts, and special events. Dallas is known for its barbecue, authentic Mexican, and Tex-Mex cuisine. Looking for something to do after you dine? The Arts District in the northern section of Downtown is home to several arts venues and is the largest continuous arts district in the United States. Dallas also hosts an array of events during the year including the State Fair of Texas, which has been held annually at Fair Park since 1886, Taste of Dallas, and the annual Halloween event, The Wake, which features local art and music. Other places of interest include the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and the Dallas Museum of Art. Indigo is a short walk from the intersection of Scyene and N. St. Augustine, which offers a variety of neighborhood services and light shopping. CA Tatum Jr. Elementary School is directly across Scyene from Indigo; other schools within two miles include Seabourn Elementary School, Galloway Elementary School, Ann Richards Middle School, West Mesquite High School, St. Philip St. Augustine Catholic Academy and Legacy Preparatory Charter Academy. Within three miles is the edge of the Mequite/ 635 retail corridor, including millions of square feet of space occupied by a who’s who of major US retailers and restaurant chains. Shopping centers along this corridor include AMC Theatres Dine-In, Peachtree Plaza Shopping Center, The Marketplace at Town Centre, Town Center Plaza, Town East Crossing, Market East Shopping Center and the highly successful and expanding Town East Mall, anchored by Sears, Macys, Dillard’s, JC Penney and over 160 additional specialty stores.
